Poha is a popular Indian breakfast dish made with flattened rice flakes. It is easy to prepare and is commonly enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee. Here's a simple recipe for making Poha:
Ingredients:
Poha as per available person 1 cup for one person
Onion as per taste but take 3-4 onion and chopped it in small peace.
Green chilles as per your test Or 5-6 chilles and chopped it in small piece s
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
8-10 curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt for taste
3 table spoon oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice as per taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Roasted peanuts (optional)
How to mix
Rinse the poha: Take the poha in a colander or sieve and rinse it gently under running water. Be careful not to break the poha flakes. Rinse for about 1-2 minutes until the poha becomes soft. Let it sit in the colander for 5 minutes to drain any excess water.
Heat oil in a pan or kadhai on medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Stir for a few seconds until they crackle.
Add chopped onions and green chilies to the pan. Sauté until the onions become translucent and soft.
Reduce the heat to low and add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well to evenly coat the onions with the spices.
Add the drained poha to the pan. Gently mix everything together using a spatula or fork, ensuring that the poha is coated with the turmeric and onion mixture. Be careful not to break the poha flakes.
Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes. This will help the flavors to blend and the poha to become soft and fluffy.
After 5 minutes, remove the lid and give the poha a gentle stir. Taste and adjust the salt if needed. If you like, you can also squeeze some lemon juice over the poha at this stage for a tangy flavor.
Turn off the heat and transfer the poha to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and roasted peanuts (if desired).
