Making of samosa in home
is a fun and delicious culinary adventure. Here's a step-by-step guide to
making of samosa:
Ingredients:-
· For the dough:
· 2 cups all-purpose flour
· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
· Water (as needed)
· For the filling:-
· 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
· 1/2 cup green peas
· 1 small onion, finely chopped
· 2 green chilies, finely chopped
· 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
· 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
· 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
· 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
· 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
· Salt to taste
· Vegetable oil for frying
Step 1: Prepare the Dough:-
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour,
vegetable oil, and salt.
2. Gradually add water while kneading the mixture
to form a smooth and firm dough.
3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it
rest for 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling:-
1. Heat some vegetable oil in a pan over medium
heat.
2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until
golden brown.
4. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies,
and sauté for another minute.
5. Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam
masala, and salt. Mix well.
6. Add the green peas and cook for a couple of
minutes.
7. Add the mashed potatoes to the pan and mix
everything together until well combined.
8. Cook the filling for 2-3 minutes, stirring
occasionally. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Step 3: Shape and Fill the Samosas:-
1. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.
2. Take one dough ball and roll it out into a thin
oval or circular shape.
3. Cut the rolled dough in half, creating two
semi-circles.
4. Take one semi-circle and fold it into a cone
shape, overlapping the straight edge and sealing it with water.
5. Hold the cone with one hand and fill it with the
prepared potato filling, leaving some space at the top.
6. Moisten the edges of the cone with water and
pinch them together to seal the samosa.
7. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and
filling.
Step 4: Fry the Samosas :-
1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or kadai over
medium heat.
2. Once the oil is hot, gently slide the samosas
into the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
3. Fry the samosas until they turn golden brown and
crispy on all sides.
4. Remove the fried samosas from the oil and place
them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
Your homemade samosas are now ready to be served!It traditionally enjoyed with tamarind chutney or mint chutney. Serve them hot and
